1kva To 2.5kva Solar Energy System: What It Can Carry (Load), Batteries, How Long It Will Last…

The 1kva to 2.5kva solar system is suitable for medium to low-energy users, typically found in households and businesses. This system ranges according to the capacity of the inverter such as 1.1kva, 1.2kva, 1.5kva, 2kva, and 2.5kva.

The number of batteries is dependent on the voltage of the inverter. Batteries are usually rated at 12v. So a 1kva 12v inverter will use one battery, and a 1.5kva 24v inverter will use two 12v batteries and multiples of two.

A 24v inverter can be connected to four batteries (multiples of 2 batteries). However, it would take double the usual time to charge those batteries to full capacity because the inverter’s charging current is optimally designed for two batteries.

The 1kva to 2.5kva (12/24v) solar system can carry lighting systems, TVs, sound systems, computers, and small to medium-sized fridges. Of course, these appliances are subject to the maximum output capacity of the inverter.

Though a 1.5kva to 2.5kva 24v inverter running on two 220ah batteries can carry a fridge or freezer, it is worth noting that the battery will drain out faster due to the higher energy consumption of the cooling system. It is best to have these on a higher system size like the 3.5kva or 4kva 48v system which is naturally mated to four batteries.

The size and number of solar panels for this type of inverter system depends on the energy needs of the user.

A PWM solar charge controller can be used for this system size, but it cannot be compared to the fast charging abilities of the MPPT solar charge controller.
